The Programme wished to offer professional photographers and amateur photo enthusiasts, the opportunity to discover new perspectives of the cross-border area and its people and to present through their photographic lens the special character, the natural and cultural heritage and the daily life in the eligible Programme area. Photo entries should have fallen under the following categories; economic development, human resources, sustainable tourism, protection of human life, environment, natural & cultural heritage.

The Photo Contest “We belong Here: Life, people and nature in the cross-border area” was officially announced on 19th July 2013 and entries were submitted until 9th September 2013. We want to acknowledge the wonderful art work of all who participated in the Contest.

The competition was judged on creativity, emphasis on cross-border character and  photographic quality by a panel of three experts comprised of members of the Managing Authority of ETC Programmes, the Operating Structure (Ministry of Local Self Government) and the Joint Technical Secretariat. We wish to thank the members of our Judging Committee, who devoted their time and knowledge to select the best photographs from more than 250 entries!

The award winners are;

  • 1st  Prize Winner: Kitsos Trifon for “Lake Prespes, Amyntaio”, resident of Edessa
  • 2nd Prize Winner: Jankovski Igor for “House in Zovic (Zovic village, Mariovo)”, resident of Bitola
  • 3rd  Prize Winner: Batantzis Giannis for “Before the Storm, Lake Vryton Pella 2”, resident of Edessa

The seventy (70) photographs with the highest rank as indicated by the Judging Committee will be on exhibition at the Cultural Center of Edessa (20-26 Sept. 2013) and in House of Culture “Gligor Prlicev” in Ohrid (7-14 Oct. 2013).
